Dr Bill Johnston has been in private and public ENT practice since 2001 and was a VMO at Hornsby Ku Ring Gai District Hospital during that time. He has recently relocated his Sydney area private consulting from Hornsby to Chatswood ENT, where he currently operates at Sydney Adventist Hospital and Chatswood Private Hospital. He is no longer seeing public patients at Hornsby Hospital as he is now also consulting privately at Port Macquarie ENT https://www.portmacent.com.au/and has accepted a position at Port Macquarie Base Hospital.
He has been a VMO at The Sydney Adventist Hospital and Head of Department there for the past seven years. Bill commenced his schooling in Melbourne and completed his high school education in Perth where he was School Captain of John 23rd College.
He then moved to NSW and completed his MMBS at the University of New South Wales, graduating in 1991. He undertook his internship and residency training at Royal North Shore Hospital before completing a two year period as an unaccredited General Surgical Registrar at Gosford Hospital on the Central Coast.
Bill commenced his otolaryngology training at Gosford Hospital in 1997 for 12 months. He also trained at Sydney Hospital and Concord Repatriation Hospital and was ENT Registrar in 1999 for six months at the Children’s Hospital, Westmead. His final year of training was completed in the Year 2000 at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. Bill undertook a local Fellowship in Rhinology under Professor Raymond Sacks and Dr Martin Forer. He entered full time private practice after this Fellowship in 2002.
Bill has a keen interest in general ENT and specific areas of interest include paediatric snoring, airway disturbance and the treatment of paediatric allergic airway disease. Adult interest areas include snoring, chronic nasal obstruction and nasal allergy treatment.
Bill is happily married and lives on the northern beaches with his wife and three teenage sons. He is a keen sportsman and has a love of surfing, golf, swimming and tennis. He also has a keen interest in overseas aid work and travels annually to Vanuatu and more recently to Nauru as well.
